TEWKESBURY BOWLING CLUB
Founded 1828: Affiliated to Bowls England & Gloucestershire Bowls Association
Gander Lane, Tewkesbury, GL20 5PG. Tel: 01684 294411
The medieval market town of Tewkesbury situated where the rivers Severn and Avon meet is an ideal place to visit if you are planning a tour in Gloucestershire, or just for the day with a bit of sight seeing, lunch out, and a game of bowls in the afternoon. With it’s numerous cafes, restaurants and watering holes there is something to suit everyone's taste. There is a river walk and plenty of old Alleys to explore, not to mention our beautiful Norman Abbey.
We are a small friendly club with 95 bowling members and can be found at the end of Gander Lane on what is known as the Vineyards, and we can boast one of the best greens in the county. The club is open most evenings during the summer season so if you are visiting the area or staying close by please call in and see us, you will be made most welcome.
Our lady and gentlemen members currently play in their respective double rink county league’s and the men in the five rink North Gloucestershire League. Also we have three teams in a Inter Club Triples League on Monday and Wednesday evenings. There are mixed friendly's most weekends so there is plenty of bowling to suit everyone's taste.
During the winter months the club is used by local skittle teams, one being our own (ladies team) Bowling Pins. It is also used for short mat bowling and we have two teams in the Gloucestershire Short Mat Bowling Association League. We have members who have represented the county and the also the national team.
Tewkesbury Bowling Club welcomes bookings from touring cubs and will always endeavour to accommodate requests received. Initial enquiries should be sent to the Fixtures Secretary. We look forward to welcoming you to our Club.
